2016 QICA Conference 25-27 October in Roma

QICA is pleased to announce the 17th Annual Conference, to be held 25-27 October 2016 in Roma, Outback Queensland!

We are also pleased to announce that the Australian Regional Tourism Network (ARTN) Convention will take place in Roma at the same time as our conference, and through discussions with ARTN, it has been decided that we will run parallel conferences to enable delegates to benefit from both the exciting line up of keynote speakers, workshops and the various streams of regional topics which are planned.
This conference is sure to provide many educational, informational and networking opportunities for all attendees from Visitor Information Centres, Regional Tourism Organisations and the Local Government Association network.

Roma, Queensland is located 470km west of Brisbane. Roma is itself a capital in its own right. The town of 8090 residents is famous for its rich and distinguished history in Gas and Oil exploration and is the pivotal business centre for much of Queensland’s southwest. Roma is often referred to as the 'gateway to the outback'.

The QICA Executive Committee is collaborating with industry on key topics and is currently in discussion with the ARTN to run visitor information centre streams.

The ARTN is the peak body that represents regional tourism practitioners and acts as a hub for collaboration, cooperation, ideas generation, knowledge sharing, networking and more. The ARTN, on behalf of its members, advocates the fostering of sustainable regional development and amplifies key messages to government, other industries and industry sectors, researchers, educators and the public.

The conference provides an opportunity for Visitor Information Centre management and staff, tourism business owners, Local Councils and State tourism bodies to meet to discuss and find solutions on important regional matters.
