Boyne Tannum Hookup Association Inc.
Local Business Boyne Island/Tannum Sands
Boyne/Tannum is a nice little coastal town of around 12,000 residents. The two towns are only divided by the Boyne River. There are two caravan parks, 7 motels, one hotel, three shopping centres, four boat ramps, three service stations, an 18 hole golf course and a whole host of other things to see and do while you are here. Tannum Sands also has a surf beach with a surf club building along main beach. If your desire is to do a spot of 4wd along a beach then the Lillies beach is the place. Simply pickup a permit from the council chambers, or the Boyne Island tackle shop. They have yearly permits as well as daily permits. From the John Oxley Bridge you can walk all the way around to the Main Beach at Tannum, going via Canoe Point. Also there is a walking path along the Boyne Island side of the river called Turtle Way. This goes from Mangrove Jacks Takeaway right through to Boyne Smelters. On both paths you will be sharing with cyclists so please watch out.
The mouth of the Boyne is well located for a starting platform for your reef trip. The only hurdle is the channel out through the river is a little tricky around the bottom of the tide. From there its across the harbour and shipping channel and then onto the reef which lies around 30 mile off shore. This is a very beautiful part of the world so what ever you take to our scenic place please bring back with you and we’ll all be able to enjoy it for years to come.
Description
The Observer Boyne Tannum Hookup originated in 1995 within the Boyne Tannum and Benaraby Chamber of Commerce. A sub-committee was formed to investigate whether an event could be created to lift the profile of Boyne Island and Tannum Sands and also give the residents in the area an event of which they could be proud of.

News
Looking at this years Observer Boyne Tannum HookUp, we haven’t and won’t be releasing the entry forms until way after Easter so please don’t pester the tackle shops or us. There are a few changes to the way in which you will be able to enter though one of which is the mail out. If you live in the 4680 region unfortunately you won’t receiving your invite in the post as the costs are becoming astronomical. In its place we will be having a sign on weekend down at Bray Park. There will be a bar operating as well as food and activities for the kids but that won’t be until half way through April. We’ll be promoting it closer to the time so don’t panic. If you are outside the 4680 region you will be getting an invite in the post and it’ll get posted four days prior to the sign on day at Bray Park to give you a chance to get your entry in, but remember first in best dressed. Talking about Bray Park, our very good friends at Dinos Earthworks have offered to provide the infrastructure needed to construct, and lay around 45m of concrete down the side of the boat ramp for the floating pontoon to rest on when the tide is out. This is a huge cost and many thanks go out to this company.
ENTRY: Senior Competitor $70.00 Inc GST (includes senior prize draw). Junior Competitor $30.00 Inc GST. Junior Competitor (includes junior prize draw). If a new or replacement entrant card is required add $5.00. Syndicates are not recognised in this amateur competition.
